Die Unterkunft hat eine schöne Dekoration, die Lage ist zum Erkunden der Insel toll weil man sich fast überall in der Mitte des Weges befindet. Der Ort um die Wohnung hat nichts zu bieten. Die Nächte waren aufgrund der Tiere in der Nachbarschaft sehr unruhig aufgrund der Lautstärke. Kommunikation mit Nikolaos war super freundlich und sehr schnell sowie der Empfang.

We were also welcomed with some fruit and coffee pods for the machine and a cold bottle of water. Coming home to a cool house was refreshing after a day of exploring. There is so much to see on this island. Everyone one we met was so friendly and delighted with our few words of Greek that we learned on the fly.
This was our vacation in paradise. The house was perfectly suited for us and we enjoyed every minute of it. It truly felt like home. Thank you to Nikos for sharing your home with us. Memories to last a lifetime!

Having a car is essential, lots of nice beaches within a short drive, Xigia a particular fave. Alykes is a bit of a strip and best just to dip in and out, Fishadila in Alykes is one place to try great for both lunch and dinner, nice food, cool vibe - European crowd.

Now staying for a second week at a villa with a pool in the hills over Zakynthos town and for the same price it is a lot less well equipped and a bit tired in comparison.

The area is really peaceful with just being able to listen to the birds and local chickens and the nearest town,Alykes, is 20 minutes walk away where there are shops, restaurants and bars. The nearest mini market was about 5 minutes walk away which had everything you need for self catering and an amazing butcher for a good bbq. There are plenty of pans and things in the kitchen as well as basic items such as salt and pepper and olive oil. Nikos and Christina were amazing hosts leaving a list of recommended places to visit and restaurants. Their communication was excellent and very quick to answer any questions. We didn’t hire a car and Nikos arranged our airport transfers which were cheaper than getting a taxi.

Вечером в саду-полный релакс.Рядом метрах в 300-х находится приличный продуктовый супермаркет. Пляж в Аликесе - в 5- 10 минутах езды на авто.
Хозяева - очень приветливые и отзывчивые люди. Мы уже третий раз на Закинфе, жили в разных местах, и это лучшая вилла, где мы жили. Если опять поедем на Закинф, то будем останавливаться только здесь. Цена-качество - десятка с плюсом.

As for Villa Gioia, the pictures do not do it justice, it is a beautiful home. The furnishings, the decor and of course the spectacular gardens are even more beautiful in person. It was a 15 min walk to a beautiful beach, restaurants and nightlife but quiet and peaceful when you wanted to unwind. We feel as if we have found our second home on the island of Zakynthos and can't see ourselves staying anywhere else.

Location : we found that staying in Katastari was a very good choice. We had a car, and this is in our opinion a "must have" so you can travel around the island easily. From Katastari, we were in a central position in the island. Alykes beach is a 5 min ride, Zakynthos is at 20 min. In the village itself, there is all the basic services (post, pharmacy, mini market,bar,etc...).
House: the house is beautiful. Big, well decorated and well equiped. There are two bedrooms, one big living room, a kitchen, a bathroom, a small WC and a big, wonderful garden, which is were we spent most of our time. The garden is really lovely. There is a big table for six, a sofa, a little table in the back of the garden with four chairs. There is also a barbecue and a shower. Being in the garden is very pleaseant, it's quiet. In the night there are lovely lights and candles in the garden. Inside there is everything you need for living and cooking, every little detail that could be useful was there (basic kitchen products, complete pharmacy, shower and bath products, cleaning products,etc...). We felt that the owners had made a great effort to make our stay very enjoyable.
We highly recommend this place for anyone staying in the island.

At night, after a day of adventure, it is nice to relax and have a leisurely glass of wine surrounded by the flowers and plants that abound.
The wifi was reliable, unlike many places in Greece. The host Nikos was helpful and supplied all kinds of information and tips. The town is roughly in the middle of the island, so you need a car, but being central worked out to be a good thing. Groceries, wine, bakeries, and all other essentials are all close by.
It is not on the hotel strip or in the main town, rather it offers an experience of what it is like living on the island like a native. I'd highly recommend staying there without hesitation, especially if you want something unique and genuine.

We love, love, love Alykes Beach and found a wonderful family-owned taverna on our path down into town, Pine Cones, which we would highly recommend. And the path from the cottage down to Alykes was perfect--we loved seeing all the chickens, goats and horses, and feeling like we were a part of the village life.

Nikos is... read more bewoner van het eiland en hij kent alle mooie locaties, heeft veel tips voor lekker eten of bepaalde stranden. Hij spreekt goed Engels, we hebben daardoor ook veel goede gesprekken kunnen voeren.
Met vier personen hebben we ons uitstekend vermaakt. Heerlijk om een gevoel van thuiskomen te ervaren na een dagje strand, excursie of ritje op het eiland.
In het huis zijn drie airco's aanwezig en dat is geen overbodige luxe.
Een aantal dagen hebben we thuis gegeten, de voorzieningen zijn daarvoor prima (fornuis, oven, grill). Sanitaire voorzieningen waren voor ons prima, wij vonden het geen probleem om de de douche in onze handen te houden ( hij hangt niet aan de muur).
Het geweldige strand van Alykes lag op 20 minuten loopafstand en dat was voor ons gezelschap ( 2 volwassenen en 2 meiden van 13 en 14 jaar) geen probleem. Twee keer drie dagen hebben we een auto gehuurd en dat is wel nodig, aangezien Katastari op zich niets te bieden heeft.
Wij hebben genoten en hopen dat volgende gastendezelfde ervaring zullen krijgen!
